Looking for some fun for you & your dog? Why not give the Puppy Stars Introduction to Hoopers and Fun Agility, a go?

This 6 - week course is divided into 3 weeks of Hoopers and 3 weeks of Fun Agility. Not sure what these are and whether you would like them or not? Why not experience them in a safe and friendly (non-competitive environment) and try something new with your dog?

This class is suitable for all dogs aged 6 months and over with basic obedience skills. Unfortunately, as there will be times your dog may be off-lead, reactive dogs are unable to attend group sessions. Contact us for assessment or more information.

Puppy Stars Hoopers

What is Hoopers? Hoopers is a low-impact form of dog agility which originates from the USA.  It involves the dog running at a distance from the handler while negotiating a free-flowing course of obstacles, which includes a series of hoops, tunnels & barrels.

There is no jumping effort required with Hoopers, making this a safe, fun activity for all sizes & breed of dog.  It is especially suitable for young dogs as an early introduction to their agility training plus great exercise & mental stimulation for older dogs.

Hoopers courses are designed to be handled from a distance, although this is not an essential requirement.  Distance handling is a great skill to develop confidence with your dog.  It also allows handlers with limited mobility the chance to enjoy participating in a fun dog activity.

This introductory foundation class is for anyone interested in learning about Hoopers & how to train their dog to work at distance away from the handler.

These fun sessions are suitable for complete beginners. Classes include introduction to Hoopers equipment, foundation games & exercises to practice your new handling skills plus the chance to try your dog around a simple, free-flowing Hoopers course.

Hoopers is suitable for dogs from 6 months of age, but they will need a minimum level of obedience.

Puppy Stars Fun Agility

Puppy Stars Fun Agility builds confidence & control by teaching your dog to negotiate an obstacle course of jumps, tunnels and structures to climb over & go through etc.,

Fun Agility is ideal activity for friendly dogs that have completed classes, as a basic level of obedience is required.

So what is Fun Agility?

Puppy Stars Fun Agility aims at teaching safety, control and how to confidently & accurately negotiate the course and equipment. Our goal is to improve your connection with your dog and have fun!

Dog agility itself involves the dog negotiating a course of obstacles to jump over, run through, jump through, weave and more!

If you do not want to compete (many do not want to compete), there is still no reason why you cannot train your dog in agility and have fun!

The skills we provide in Fun Agility will enable dogs to go on to more serious clubs to compete if that is what you wish to do.

It’s not all about Speed and Lycra!

The exercises will be appropriate for the age range of the dogs taking part.

At our agility sessions, the onus is on safety, accuracy and enjoyment - never speed. You'll find that Speed comes later on the more you attend and once your dog had gained confidence in the use of the equipment.

We will start your dog on a lead so that we can control their speed and accuracy and teach you both what to do at each piece of equipment. Most dogs will end up off lead before too long.

Our sessions are not competitive, just great fun! Whilst one dog is using the equipment, we give you all exercises to do to keep you focused and ready for your turn!
